Amy Lam is a writer and editor based in Portland, Oregon and Oxford, Mississippi. She is a contributing editor and cohost of Backtalk podcast at Bitch Media, a Kundiman fellow, the editorial lead at On She Goes, and the John & Renee Grisham fellow at the University of Mississippi where she is an MFA candidate. Amy was born in Chinatown-Los Angeles, raised in the San Gabriel Valley, and has lived and worked in Huarong, Hunan, China and Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Her work has appeared in Bitch Media: Feminist Response to Pop Culture, Poetry Foundation, Pacifica Literary Review, Utne Reader, Glimpse, and Papercutter. She is a former punk kid, who penned a long-running column in Razorcake, the only non-profit music magazine in the US.
Amy is a first-generation university graduate, a child of refugees, and a descendant of diaspora. She is working on a novel and collection of short stories.
